HOSPITAL DIRECTOR APPLICATION

└─────━┿──┿━─────┘

OOC SECTION

[This section is a requirement to properly identify you during your application.]

-

What is your IGN

  • UrAJinx

What is your Discord

  • kustomzero

What would you like us to call you?

  • Zero

How old are you?

(If you do not want to state your exact age, confirm if you are above the age of 16)

  • 20

Do you have a functional Microphone

  • No, I’m currently uncomfortable speaking inside voice channels. However, I can join them to listen.

What is your timezone & How would you describe your activity

  • My timezone is CST which resides in the North American region. When it comes to my activity it can vary as I have a life outside of the online realm. When it comes to activity within Discord I’m very active when it comes to regular chats and anything else that I might be needed for. On top of Discord when it comes to voice chatting it’s very bipolar meaning it can be hard for me to get in a voice channel during the day. However, I can assure you that at night it doesn’t become a problem. The only time it becomes a problem is if I have something going on in real life whether I’m out doing something or it’s something important interfering with my time. Seeing how the server is currently in beta I really can’t get an estimated time of how long I’d be on. Though with how excited I am and looking forward to the grand opening of YRP I can assure you that I will become very active on this server. Now some stuff can potentially bring my activity down for a temporary timeframe. Sometimes I will get demotivated to do things that burn me out. If this happens I will step back to recover, this can last for a few days to a week or more. However, when I get my motivation back and am done recovering I will hop right back to it. Another thing that can decrease my activity is my mental health. Sometimes I will take mental health breaks just to let my health relax and also to just step back from the online world to breathe. The last thing that can affect my activity is life events happening. We all know at any moment in our lives anything can happen and unfortunately, sometimes those things will happen. It’s out of my control. Everyone’s control. If this happens and depending on how severe the event is this will affect my activity. Hopefully, this will never be the case but then again things can happen unexpectedly. Other than that, if I have nothing going on then I will be fairly active and ready to go.

What is your motivation to apply to the Norowarejima Hospital Faction

Honestly, YRP is an upcoming successor project I can see happening. It’s also given me hope that this server can be somewhere to enjoy my roleplaying passion. I also want to make memories with the server and watch the progression of YRP take shape. However, my true motivation for applying to this faction is the medical field. This might sound silly but I LOVE Grey's Anatomy, no spoilers I’m only on season 19, and it’s just something about that show that makes me want to do something like that. However, that can’t happen in the real world for me because I hate gore. This is why joining this faction on a block game would be a fun thing for me to fulfill that feeling inside. Plus it’s a great way to learn even more medical knowledge every day within the faction. YRP is just getting started and what better way to join this amazing journey than by applying to a faction and joining a great community?

(OPTIONAL)

Will you be applying to become the Hospital Director (Coordinator)

(Note: If you are applying for this role, this will also mean you are applying to become staff within the server and will be put on a high standard if you are to be accepted).

After some deep thought and consideration, I have decided to give a shot at applying for this position. I know this is a big responsibility but I am willing to take on this role and learn from it as I grow not just by myself but with the faction.

I ask if I don’t get this role then I’ll be more than happily to be put in as a Resident / Surgeon.

ROLE-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS & MEDICAL TRIVIA

[This section is dedicated to testing your knowledge on the medical field.]

└─────━┿──┿━─────┘

If you are accepted, you will be given the RESIDENT tag

  • This is true.

Do you have any prior experience with MedicalRP

  • Yes, on another roleplaying server, which is SRP, I was in a hospital faction as a surgeon for several months. During my time there I underwent training and was required to take notes about that position. I also understand when it comes to medical roleplay situations it can get stressful at times due to the amount of pressure I’m dealing with or if the area is busy. With the position I held I learned interesting knowledge in the medical field and I wish to bring that here.

Are you aware that with MedicalRP comes the possibility of encountering possibly triggering topics

  • Yes, I’m very aware that the medical field can contain sensitive topics. I understand that it can be hard to deal with but I know I can handle it.

How well can you coordinate with a team during Roleplay

  • Though I prefer to work solo, I can still work with a team. I have done it before and I can do it again. When it comes to coordination in a team it’s important to have communication with the people you’re working with or even your patient. If you don’t have clear communication with your patient or co-workers something can go wrong and that will fall on the individual. Communication is the key to teamwork and coordination. Some other key factors are responsibility and leadership skills when needed. However, the biggest factor will always be communication. Now for myself, I’ve grown over the years to learn to coordinate with a team. I’ve had past experiences on other servers and in the real world. With the things I learned, I know I can bring them here.

MEDICAL TRIVIA

(PHYSIOLOGY)

If someone is experiencing a reaction to food poisoning, what is the correct way to manage and treat the symptoms

I would make sure to document any symptoms the patient has. Then I would ask them what they’ve eaten to figure out what the cause is. I’d then take vital tests to make sure everything is stable. If the food poisoning is serious I would get them to rehydrate slowly and would order IV fluids in. Depending on the symptoms they may have I would get them the right medication to handle it.

What procedure would you follow if you witness a patient experiencing a seizure

  • Depending on where the patient is I would immediately get them on the ground and turn on their side while having their head rest on a cushioned area. I would keep my distance to let the seizure pass as restraining them isn’t good. I would then either pull out my phone or look at the nearest clock and time the seizure for how long it lasts and to see if it’s severe depending on how long it lasts. Once the seizure is past I would get them to a room and would document the situation before asking them questions to figure out the cause. I would then proceed further if it falls under protocol to make sure the patient is safe and being taken care of.

What procedure would you follow if a patient that has entered the hospital has a broken forearm

  • If someone comes in with a broken forearm I would immediately order x-rays so I know what I’m looking at. After I get the imaging results back I would then perform the necessary procedures to get it taken care of. First I’d take them to the room and would clean the area with gentle care. I would then begin preparing to apply the cast. This is done by wrapping the arm in synthetic padding and overlapping them. Then I would apply the plaster and fiberglass around the padding gently. I would also ask the patient what color they would like and would make sure to apply that as well. Once done I would ask if they would like any pain medication to help with it and if they say yes I would get a psychiatrist to handle the prescriptions. I’d tell them to take it easy and to come back in a few weeks later to check on it.

What procedure would you follow if a patient enters the hospital struggling to breathe

If a person comes in and is struggling to breathe I’d immediately take them to the room and I would check their airway, breathing, and circulation to make sure everything is okay. I would then give them an oxygen mask to help bring in oxygen more easily. If the oxygen levels aren't improving then I will intubate them. This is done to hopefully prevent any life-threatening injuries that can come. If all is well then I’ll ask them if they have asthma or bronchitis. If they do, I would get a psychiatrist immediately to grab me an asthma inhaler. If they don’t have asthma and their breathing isn’t improving I would order X-rays to make sure nothing is blocking it. I will then continue to monitor the patient and do any necessary precautions and protocols until the patient's breathing improves.

(PSYCHIATRY)

A patient is experiencing a panic attack before an important procedure. How would you assist the patient?

  • Procedures are scary and it’s understandable for a patient to feel scared and potentially have a panic attack. I would talk to them with a soft tone and reassure them that everything is okay. If it makes them feel better I would go over the step-by-step procedure once more. To help them calm down even more would help them to take deep breaths and get them water. If the panic attack doesn’t subside and only gets worse then I would get the proper medication to help it calm down.

A belligerent patient in the middle of a psychotic episode stumbles into the emergency room. What should you do?

  • For this to be handle it actually really depends on what kind of psychotic episode they may have. For an example if this was a schizophrenic episode it’d be hard to calm them down. Not just that but getting their attention would be the hardest part. The best thing you would need to do is restrain them and mido them if necessary so they don’t bring harm to themselves or others. However, I will explain what I’d do in general if it was a psychotic episode that could be handled.

  • The most important thing to do first is to de-escalate the situation. I would grab staff if needed and alert the surgeons in the room. After the surgeons are alerted I would get the staff to restrain the patient with care and take them back to the room depending on how severe the episode is. If the patient doesn’t cooperate or gets violent I would make sure to mido them. Then get them taken back to the room and put restraints on them. I would then make sure to get a psychiatrist up here to talk to the patient and handle the situation.

Which neurotransmitter is most commonly associated with depression

  • Serotonin is the most commonly used neurotransmitter for depression. Serotonin helps boost mood, appetite, and sleep. It’s also usually referred to as the feel-good neurotransmitter.

What does the Acronym [PTSD] stand for, and what does it entail

  • The acronym PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It’s a mental health disorder that is often associated with seeing a traumatic event or experiencing it. PTSD is not the same for everyone. Some of the symptoms of this mental health disorder are flashbacks, intrusive memories, avoiding the event, or having negative thoughts.

JUN TAKANE'S COVER LETTER

Hospital Hiring Committee

Norowarejima Hospital, Japan

Dear Members of the Hospital Hiring Committee,

My name is Jun Takane and I’m writing to you all expressing my interest in the Director position at the hospital. As someone who has professional experience from past hospitals from being a surgeon, I believe I can expand my experience and knowledge and prove my worth here at Norowarejima. I am passionate about making a difference in the world hence why I chose the medical pathway. I am very serious when it comes to patient care and take matters into my own hands when needed. Hearing about this open position has brought me not just excitement, but dedication to fulfill my dreams. During my several years as a surgeon, I have developed skills in patient care, and extremely difficult procedures which has helped me build my strength when it comes to working under pressure. Before I became a surgeon, I had an internship when I was in college. That's when my real passion for the medical field started.

However, what draws my attention to your hospital is how brand new it is. I know it needs members and I would love to be a part of this journey. The dedication and potential I can see within Norowarejima Hospital is flawless and I can see great things happening here. Over the years in the medical field, I was always told that a woman cannot hold the director role just because of my gender. I want to prove society wrong and make the impossible possible. However, that isn’t my full reasoning as to why I want to be a part of your team. There’s so much I can say that it won’t fit all on paper. I hope you will consider me as a choice so I can further discuss what contributions I can offer, the skills I can bring, and what I value.

Best Regards,

Jun Takane

THE INTERVIEW

[Congratulations! Your character scored an interview, please answer the following all in ICLY fashion]

The Hospital Director takes a seat at their desk, clasping their hands together with a calm gaze as they greet the individual. Their desk is clean and pristine, aside from a half-filled tea cup that continues to steam, giving the room a lovely aroma.

  • Takane would sit there in the office as she took in the fine details the room had to offer. The aroma the tea gave off brought a sense of warmth to her.

“Good afternoon. I will be conducting your interview today. Could I have your full name as well as your age and date of birth, please?”

  • Takane would nod as she sat up straight and her eyes would maintain on you. “Good afternoon to you as well. My name is Takane Jun and I’m currently 37 years of age. My date of birth is 1988, March 26th."

“Very nice. Now, could you tell me a little more about yourself? Do you have a family, perhaps some motivations behind why you’d like to work here?”

  • Takane would take in that question hearing it. She’d nod slightly before speaking. “Tell me more about myself?” She’d let out a slight chuckle before quickly getting back to a professional manner. “Sorry… sorry. It’s just no one has ever really ask me to share my personal self.” A sigh would come out before continuing. “To be honest with you, talking about my personal self is rather difficult for me. I can, however, talk to you about my professional self.” Jun would smile at the Director as she went on. “When it comes to my work environment and those around me I ensure I put in the time and dedication in to make sure everything is going well. I also don’t want things to affect my work so if I need to I will bring matters into my own hands. I’m very passionate about my work and even my dreams. I guess you can say I’m outgoing. My motivation to work here is to simply continue growing my experience and going after what my dreams are. If you read my cover letter, which I’m assuming you did, I mentioned my journey began after I attended my college internship. I hope to continue it here and share my experience with the staff.” Takane would smile before answering the final question. “I don’t have blood related family here. However, I am married to my darling wife and I consider her as family. As well as my daughter that we adopted."

“Would you like us to refer to you by your surname or first name? As well as what honorifics you’d like.”

(San, Chan, Kun, Shi, etc.)

  • This was an interesting question for sure. “I’d prefer those who aren't close to me to refer me as Doctor Jun if I’m on duty. When it comes to off duty I would like to be referred as Jun-shi.”

The director nods in affirmation, now understanding the type of person the individual was and readjusts their posture, taking a sip of that aromatic green tea before continuing to speak.

“It is nice meeting you, then. Now, Let us move on to some more important questions regarding your role.”

  • Takane would nod back appreciating the comment.

“A patient arrives with a severe injury and is panicking uncontrollably. Walk me through how you would handle this situation.”

  • Hearing the first important question Takane would make sure to keep her posture strong. “The most important thing I’d do first is to calm the patient down. Depending on where the severe injury is at I don’t need it getting worse from the sudden movement the patient is causing. Once I have them calmed down I would order some staff around me to get a gurney so I can take the patient to the room. Then I would begin working on the injury following the protocols and procedures set in place.”

“During an emergency, if any other hospital staff are unavailable however there is a patient in need, can we trust you to stabilize them or treat them to an acceptable degree?”

  • Takane would listen carefully once more as she heard the director in front of her asking the questions.Takane would take a moment to think. “Yes, you would be able to trust me to get them stabilized or treatment to an acceptable degree. I've had plenty of experience working solo when it comes to patients. I know being a resident can be hard and making mistakes is something you really don’t want to make as it can affect a patients outcome and your own.”

“Could you run me through on the plethora of equipment you may find within your personal office if you are to be given the role of a resident? Just simply medical equipment.”

  • Takane would nod as her thumbs rubbed against each other. “Of course, if I were to be accepted and I got a personal office then that means simple medical equipment should be stored in there for obvious reasons. Some equipment that you might find in my office would be a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, thermometer, and some basic supplies like gloves, guazes, and some bandages for minor injuries.”

[HOSPITAL DIRECTOR INTERVIEW]

The Director hums in curiosity after quickly scanning over the individual’s application, noting that they are wishing to take over the Hospital Director position

The long-haired female would sit across from the director with a strong posture. Her eyes would scan the area noticing the fine details in the office and how organized it was kept. She could hear her heartbeat thumping faster by the minute, a sign that she was anxious and nervous at the same time. However, Takane felt confident about this. If she wasn’t confident then there was no point in being here. Eventually, her undivided attention was brought back to the director soon hearing them speak.

“A very noble role. How interesting. Are you aware that if you are to take over my role within the Norowarejima Emergency hospital, you will also be taking over my previous work and responsibilities?

Takane would clear her throat before speaking as she sat up from the chair keeping her posture straight and strong. This would help boost her confidence. “Yes, I’m aware I won’t just be taking over your position but the responsibilities and past work you have done here. I wouldn’t want your hard-earned time from the work you’ve put in to go to waste. It’s the least I can do if I’m given the position.” Takane spoke with a strong tone hinting that she was confident about all of this. However, deep inside she could still feel her heart beating fast.

They clear their throat, collecting a document with a collection of questions they then begin to recite.

Takane noticed they grabbed a paper and assumed it was most likely a questionnaire. The female would take a deep breath and would prepare herself for what was to come.

“Why should you receive this position above anyone else interested?”

The first question would be spoken from you as Takane took it in for a good moment before answering. “How often do you see a female hospital director nowadays? I rarely see or even hear one. I believe I should receive this position over anyone else that’s interested because not only am I confident but I want to break the typical stereotype about big roles like this. You see, the stereotype that this world follows is men are better suited to holding these sorts of positions. I want to prove society wrong and become a good hospital director who isn’t a male. I want to be an example to the women out there that they can achieve their dreams and goals like I hope to achieve as well. If I get this position I want to make good choices and changes for this city to the best I can. I want people to feel safe and comfortable when they come here to either work or if they’re a patient, even just in general. I’m dedicated to fulfilling this position and I’m even more committed to making sure that my employees will feel comfortable and make sure their mental and physical health is doing okay. I understand that working in an environment like this can become stressful. I can’t run a hospital if my employees are burnt out or their mental health is low. This is why I want them to know that I take mental health seriously and because I care about every one of my employees. I’m also open to listening to my employees and their opinions or concerns very seriously. I want this to be the best and most positive hospital that Japan has ever seen before. I know I can do it and I hope you can also believe in this too.” Takane would take a breather before putting a bright smile on her face to the director.

“Now. As the director you will be in charge of not only ensuring your patient’s safety, but managing the safety within the workplace. Let's see.. How would you address a conflict between two Hospital Staff members?”

  • Takane would cross one leg over the other as her palms rested on her knees. She’d nod simply to your statement. “Safety is a big priority when it comes to running things. If I see a conflict happening between two of my employees I will pull them to the side specifically in my office for a more private area. I will settle them down and talk to each one of them at a time about what the ruckus is. Once I get an explanation from both sides depending on what the situation is how I would handle it. I’d first address that causing a scene and acting unprofessional, especially in front of patients isn’t okay. Then I would secondly address that if one of them has a problem they need to come to me so I can handle it. If they don’t comply or continue to cause issues I will write them both up and potentially put them on suspension if they don’t take it seriously. A workplace should always be safe and respectful. It shouldn’t contain employees going after each other or making patients uncomfortable because of their behavior.” Takane would roll her shoulders back trying to release the tension she felt.

“The hospital receives a lawsuit from a patient that believes their operation or treatment was not properly executed. Who would you reach out to and how would you handle the lawsuit accordingly?”

  • Takane nodded once more after hearing the question. This specific one was a very important question. She knew her body language would be analyzed and even her words to watch how she could handle this situation. Takane was up for the task and she was ready to speak. “A lawsuit is a very serious matter that needs to be taken care of carefully. First of all, I would go through my computer documents to see who the surgeon and anyone else who assisted in the operation of this patient. I would then reach out to them individually and speak to them about this issue. Once I listened to everyone’s side of the story I would then take it to a lawyer I would have in contact with. The last thing I want is for the hospital to be sent to court or even shut down. I don’t need a bad reputation to be framed on us. This is why I would talk to the person who filed the lawsuit and personally apologize for what happened. I would also get the employees who worked on the operation to apologize as well. If the patient still wants to press even further I would try to reason with them and tell them I will handle the employees who performed the operation with a serious discussion and potentially disciplinary actions.” Takane would take in a deep breath hoping that was enough explaining to satisfy the director.

“The Inarigetsu Academy brings in a collection of students studying in the medical field and they wish to witness an operation for an assignment. How will you respond and thus, how would you ensure everyone’s safety and focus during the operation?”

  • Hearing the next question, Takane still sat with pride. The nervousness and anxiety she felt was now gone. Which boosted her confidence even more. “An operation being observed by students. On my behalf for the hospital faculty, I would preferably like one of the senior leadership members to notify me beforehand. I would also want the students to get signed permission forms from their legal guardians. Observing a procedure can be tough, especially for youngsters like them. Now I personally wouldn’t allow them to observe the procedure because the surgeons and medical team need to concentrate. We also know what teenagers do which is why I don’t need issues happening. However, if I were to allow this I would let the students observe in the observation room while sitting there respectfully. No students would be allowed outside the room without permission after going inside. They also will not be allowed to tinker with the intercom within the room to cause distractions for the staff. If any distractions or issues are caused and I notice it’s affecting the surgeon's work I will have the students and faculty members escorted out of the hospital.” Takane would rub her palms together as she took in another breath.

“What unique Contributions can you bring to our hospital in my stead?”

  • Takane would unfold her cross legs and would sit up straight fully. Her palms would interlock together as they rested on her lap. “Well, I’ve already mentioned a lot of stuff regarding the question why I should be chosen over everyone else. However, I would like to bring an internship program to the hospital for college students who wish to learn more behind the scenes of what we do. I want this hospital to be seen not just as a workplace but as a teaching environment. Another contribution I’d like to provide is a yearly award to honor the best surgeon who has shown their ability to perform their duties at a higher level and for thinking out of the box to save a patients life in an extraordinary way. That is also why I want to encourage my surgeons to think outside of the box to solve the impossible to save their patient. It’s important to bring more innovation to this hospital and it starts from the great young minds of these hospital staff. Another contribution I’d like to add is listening to the feedback from the employees and even adding their own contributions that seem valuable towards the community and this hospital.” Takane would smile as she seemed much more relaxed than before.

Any extra information you’d like to add

I know I don’t have all the medical knowledge in the world but I’m dedicated to keep learning and improving my experience in the faction if I get accepted. I also have a document filled with medical notes from where I was a surgeon on another server. If you’d like to look at them feel free to DM me via Discord.

Can you provide a reference to your character's appearance?
