Yesย

I am in the GMT timezone, I would normally be active after around 6:30PM GMT on Monday to Thursday as that is when I normally get home from work, Friday would be after 3PM and over the weekend I am avaiable most of the dayย

What is your motivation to apply to the Norowarejima Hospital Factionย

ย My motivation to join the Hospital Faction is that I think it would suit well for the character I am going to be playing. He grew up as a rowdy kid, often getting into street fights but never anything too serious. During that time he learned basic first aid to treat himself and his friends, as he grew older and more mature he realised that what he wanted to do was become a doctor and help people.ย

Another reason I have is that I personally findย medical things interesting, I have recently signed up for a first aid at work course in real life and I can use that on this server as actual first aid knowledge and what to do in certain situations.ย

(OPTIONAL)ย

Will you be applying to become the Hospital Director (Coordinator)ย

ROLE-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS & MEDICAL TRIVIA

โ””โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”โ”ฟโ”€โ”€โ”ฟโ”โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”˜ย

If you are accepted, you will be given the RESIDENT tagย

Do you have any prior experience with MedicalRPย

I do not have any prior experience with MedicalRP, but I am willing and hoping to learn from this experience.ย

Are you aware that with MedicalRP comes the possibility of encountering possibly triggering topicsย

I am aware.ย

How well can you coordinate with a team during Roleplayย

I will be able to coordinate pretty well as long as the communication is clear and concise.ย

MEDICAL TRIVIAย

(PHYSIOLOGY)ย

If someone is experiencing a reaction to food poisoning, what is the correct way to manage and treat the symptomsย

What I would do is firstly make sure that the patient is not in need of immediate medical attention, for example, the food poisoning has seriously dehydrated them. Then I would ensure they rehydrate themselves and get some rest.ย

What procedure would you follow if you witness a patient experiencing a seizureย

I would try not to move them unless they are in danger of getting hurt, then I would clear the area around them to ensure they do not hurt themselves. After that I would run a quick check on their medical records if possible to see if they have epilepsy or anything like it. Once the seizure is over I would place them into the recovery position and stay with them until they recover.ย

What procedure would you follow if a patient that has entered the hospital has a broken forearmย

I would quickly scan the room to assess the severity of any other patients, if there is a patient with a more severe injury they would take priority as a broken forearm is in most cases not life threatening.ย

However if there is no other patients with a more severe injury, I would bring the patient in for an Xray to assess how bad the break is. If the break is simple I would put a cast on the patient and they would be good to go. If the break is not so simple then a surgery may be needed before the cast can be fitted.ย

What procedure would you follow if a patient enters the hospital struggling to breatheย

Shortness of breath is often symptoms of anaphylactic shock or a heart attack, I would first ask the patient a series of questions to find out the other symptoms they are experiencing. ย

If it is anaphylactic shock, I would find an epi-pen or an adrenaline vial and inject it into them. After that I would get them into a treatment room with a respirator and adrenaline drip.ย

If it is a heart attack, there are multiple treatment options available, such as PCI which is a procedure to widen the blocked arteries. There are also medicines to reduce and prevent blood clots that can be given to the patient.ย ย

(PSYCHIATRY)ย

A patient is experiencing a panic attack before an important procedure. How would you assist the patient?ย

I would smile and assure them that the procedure is safe and helping them, I would offer to be by their side as they are put under anaesthesia to reassure them.ย

ย A belligerent patient in the middle of a psychotic episode stumbles into the emergency room. What should you do?ย

I would first assess if they have anything they can use to hurt themself or others and if they are a danger to themself or others, if they are not then I would slowly approach them while trying to calm them down. If at any point they show discomfort I would stop and not go any closer.ย

If they are a danger I would attempt to calm them down while also attempting to send out a signal to other employees to call the police in the event that the patient decides to try to attack someone.ย

Which neurotransmitter is most commonly associated with depressionย

Serotonin is commonly associated with depression and other mood disordersย

What does the Acronym [PTSD] stand for, and what does it entailย

PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and it is found in people who have experienced horrible trauma in the past. For example, lots of veterans who have returned from active duty have PTSD.ย

The symptoms of PTSD are often things like Flashbacks, anxiety or trouble sleeping.ย

Oliver's COVER LETTERย

Dear Hiring Committee of Norowarejima Emergency Services Hospital,ย

ย

I am writing to express my keen interest in the medical resident position at Norowarejima Emergency Services Hospital. As someone who has worked as a nurse in Toshiba Hospital and completed my medical studies at Tokyo Medical University, I am eager to bring my dedication, knowledge and skills to your highly regarded workplace. Joining your hospital represents an incredible opportunity to further refine my medical expertise while contributing to the compassionate care and high standards for which your hospital is known. ย

ย

My experience at the Toshiba Hospital allowed me to immerse myself in a fast-paced healthcare environment. As a nurse, I frequently assisted doctors with procedures and provided hands-on care to patients, developing not only technical medical skills but also the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This role taught me the importance of precision, teamwork and adaptability. Qualities I aim to bring to my residency at Norowarejima. ย

ย

In addition to my practical experience, my time spent at Tokyo Medical University prepared me to thrive in challenging medical settings. I am passionate about emergency medical care, areas where I believe your hospital excels. I am eager to learn from your team of highly regarded healthcare professionals, deepen my understanding of cutting-edge medical practices and contribute meaningfully to your patients recovery and well-being. I am inspired by Norowarejima Emergency Services Hospitalโ€™s commitment to excellence and innovation and I believe my personal values align closely with your mission. My combination of hands-on experience and a genuine passion for patient care positions me to succeed as a medical resident at your hospital.ย

ย

I would welcome the opportunity to meet in person to discuss how my background and aspirations align with the needs of your hospital. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of joining your team and contributing to the exceptional care provided by Norowarejima Emergency Services Hospital. ย

Sincerely, ย

Oliver Yua

THE INTERVIEWย

The Hospital Director takes a seat at their desk, clasping their hands together with a calm gaze as they greet the individual. Their desk is clean and pristine, aside from a half-filled tea cup that continues to steam, giving the room a lovely aroma.ย

ย Oliver walks in slightly nervously but doing his best to mask it with a confident smile as he walks over to the desk and reaches out to shake hands with the Director. After this greeting he takes a seat in the chair opposite the director and nervously adjusts his tie slightly as he waits for a question.ย

โ€œGood afternoon. I will be conducting your interview today. Could I have your full name as well as your age and date of birth, please?โ€ย

Upon the first question, he leans back slightly, the nervousness seeming to fade as he clears his throat before he confidently answers the question in a clear voice. โ€œAh yes, my name is Oliver Yua but most people just call me Ollie, I am 27 years old and i was born on the 27th of May 1998.โ€ย

โ€œVery nice. Now, could you tell me a little more about yourself? Do you have a family, perhaps some motivations behind why youโ€™d like to work here?โ€ย

He takes a couple of seconds to answer, translating the words in his head before he speaks. โ€œI am originally from the South of England, but when I was around 5 my dad moved to Tokyo for work and brought my family with him. Although when I was a young teenager, I was immature and a bit of a delinquent. I often got into fights because I didn't fit in, during that time I would normally provide basic first aid to myself and my few friends.โ€ He pauses and takes a breath as it seems he is reminiscing about the past for a couple seconds before he continues.ย โ€œAs I grew older and matured, I realised I wanted to pursue medicine to help people on a wider scale like I used to with my friends. I guess that is my motivation, and I can promise you that I am not a delinquent anymore, I grew out of that phase.โ€ He looks at the Director with a warm, genuine smile upon answering the question.ย

โ€œWould you like us to refer to you by your surname or first name? As well as what honorifics youโ€™d like.โ€ย

He thinks for a moment before he speaks. โ€œI would rather be referred to by my first name as that is how I was raised, I am not too sure about honorifics but I would prefer โ€˜Sanโ€™ because I think it's what's commonly used.โ€ย

The director nods in affirmation, now understanding the type of person the individual was and readjusts their posture, taking a sip of that aromatic green tea before continuing to speak.ย

โ€œIt is nice meeting you, then. Now, Let us move on to some more important questions regarding your role.โ€ย

He fidgets in his seat slightly before giving a small nod to continue. ย

โ€œA patient arrives with a severe injury and is panicking uncontrollably. Walk me through how you would handle this situation.โ€ย

He thinks it through in his head for a couple seconds before answering the question โ€œFirst I would attempt to calm them down as I assess them visually to try and pinpoint the injury and the severity of it. During this I would refrain from physical contact.ย Then I would take the steps to treat the patient while attempting to calm them down still. If they are bleeding for example I would apply a tourniquet or put pressure on the wound to slow the bleeding. Once they are calm enough to be treated I would help them to a treatment room so they can begin their treatment and recovery.โ€ He takes a breath after answering

โ€œDuring an emergency, if any other hospital staff are unavailable however there is a patient in need, can we trust you to stabilize them or treat them to an acceptable degree?โ€ย

He smiles at the director as he answers. โ€œIt is my duty and pleasure to provide aid to any person that needs it, no matter how severe the injury.โ€

โ€œCould you run me through on the plethora of equipment you may find within your personal office if you are to be given the role of a resident? Just simply medical equipment.โ€ย

He silently mouths out a list as he thinks about the question. โ€œI would hope to have been equipped with a box of gloves, a box of masks and a couple bins for medical waste and sharp objects respectively. I would also hope to have a first aid kit and a sink for washing hands after treating patients. Some other basic equipment would be diagnostic tools like thermometers, blood pressure readers, stethoscopes, all things I can use to discover symptoms.โ€ย

Other Information

I wrote this out on a word document and I have had trouble with the formatting, so apologies for the white lines
