How did you learn about the server?
I actually learned about it via a friend! Unfortunately, they weren’t speaking of the server in a very kind context; something I simply don’t understand, considering every interaction I’ve witnessed has been quite kind!
The mention was in passing, and I didn’t think too much of it at the time being. But as I was looking for an individual in a now-dead server I used to be a part of, I saw Yurei-Jima mentioned once more and decided to check it out. All it took was one google search for me to find myself in the server’s discord, stunned by the community. While I’ll be the first to admit I’m definitely not the chattiest player out there discord-wise, I do read through the chat messages frequently and keep myself up-to-date with applications and the occasional sneak-peak we get to see. I adore looking at all of the roadmap items that have been completed… The team is so efficient!
Why do you wish to become a beta tester?
While I probably sound like a broken record, especially with how many beta applicants there are, I see quite a lot of potential for this server. I’ve been a part of my fair share of MCRP servers: modern-day, fantasy, medieval; many of which have risen and then fallen, risen and then fallen, a repetitive cycle until they eventually call it quits.
Quite frankly, I don’t see this being the case for this server.
The foundation Yurei-Jima RP has is astronomical: the staff and community teams are incredibly active both server-wise and in an interactive sense, the community itself is SO chatty (in the best way possible!) and has been incredibly kind from what I’ve seen, and it appears that everybody just works super well together. You don’t see that for a lot of servers out there, and that’s something I can attest to. Again, I’ve been through SO many! With a good foundation, this server is going to thrive… And that’s something I want to be a part of!
But the team itself can’t get there alone, they need beta testers to ensure the server is ready and bug-free come release, and to start setting the actual roleplay atmosphere of the server. Bug testing is only one part of beta-testing; a crucial aspect, sure, because who wants a buggy server? There’s no better way to ensure the server’s plugins are perfected for the server’s eventual release than to have a group of dedicated people working to really test them. But, again, that’s only one part of it! I’d argue roleplaying as a beta-tester is even more crucial than the bug testing aspect. These are people who have a sneak peak into the server itself, and while its arguable as to whether or not any of the roleplay that goes on will become canon post-release, they need to be there to set the server’s atmosphere. To explore parts of the map, to really set the scene for each and every place across Norowarejima. And the group you have currently can only do so much. That isn’t meant to be taken as an insult, only that I mean you can only do so much with the number of people you currently have on the server.
So, why should I, of all people, become a beta tester? After all, if you just look at my discord profile, I don’t seem to be very active discord-wise.
Discord isn’t everything. I think I’ve lost track of the amount of times the name of your server has popped up in the DMs of my friends and I, laced with countless excited comments. You need people excited for your server… Check! You need people who can roleplay with anyone and roleplay well… Check, though that’s not to toot my own horn. Those that know, know, though. You need people who have beta tested servers before… Check, check, check! Perhaps that’s what I bring to the table most, my past experience as a beta tester, doing alllll the same things you’re looking for now. I worked rather diligently within a past server I’ve been a part of, testing bugs and doing my best to break the plugins set about in front of me in order to find their weaknesses. To find their limits and where the plugins could be improved upon. I’ve helped secure the map, ensuring players wouldn’t be able to glitch out of a town itself and wander across the behind-the-scenes of a server. And, most of all, I’ve roleplayed. Boooyyyy, have I roleplayed! I’ve interacted with different characters, each differing entirely from the next. While I’m sure it wouldn’t be appreciated to detail each specific experience, note that I’ve helped to bring life to otherwise dry places within a server. Again, not to toot my own horn, or anything.
Outside of that, I can bring forth my honesty! If you need opinions on where the server could be improved, I’m happy to provide those. If you need me to give you a detailed list of areas players could glitch out of the map from, I can also provide those! Whatever you need from me, know I’ll do my best to provide it.
What do you expect to do once the server releases?
Well… It’s a roleplay server, is it not? I guess I’ll roleplay!
Jokes aside, I have a few avenues I’ve been considering. I’m not completely certain what specific one I’ll go down, but I have fleshed out a few ideas! The hospital faction certainly interests me; I quite enjoy MedicalRP, and if I ever apply I’ll certainly have my eye on that stunning physician department.
But owning a shop definitely interests me, too! I have prior experience with such a thing, and so I think that would be quite a smooth transition for me. I won’t share just what I have in mind for a shop, a secret plan that will forever stay locked in my head, but it’s definitely a plan.
And then, of course, we have some more minor concepts. If its ever a thing, I think leading a club would be fun. Interacting with others in the student faction, throwing around an event here and there. I think I’d like to join a tailoring group, too, considering my experience there, or start my own. We’ll see! And at long last, I’d like to join or start a family within the server. I think it’s a great way to get to know people and to foster some good RP experiences. In the past I've considered joining a community team, notably the lore/writing department, but I think I want to enhance some of my skills before I do such a thing.
Outside of that, I’m excited to explore the server with the entire community on it! There’s plenty of beta testers, sure, but I think the experience when the server is released will be incredibly unique. So many people are excitedly awaiting the server (including me!) and I think everybody’s going to have a great time. I’m excited to see where it goes.
