MEDICAL TRIVIA

(PHYSIOLOGY)
If someone is experiencing a reaction to food poisoning, what is the correct way to manage and treat the symptoms?:

Figure out what they may have consumed within the last 12-24 hours see if they have any possible allergies to the food and if so treat for that if otherwise. ,hook them up to an IV, to keep them Hydrated. If any bacterial infections are found prescribe them with necessary Antibiotics. When completely done with assessing the patient, i'd keep monitoring every now and then until the food poisoning is gone.

What procedure would you follow if you witness a patient experiencing a seizure?:

Stay calm, Protect the patient from any injury, cushion head any potential restricting clothing, loosen it. If the patient is wearing eyewear remove it to assure the eyewear won't shatter/break. Easily turn them onto their side, when the convulsive movements stop.
Note the time of the seizure, and closely observe the symptoms. Even when the seizures are over they may not be conscious yet, so stay with them as soon as they wake and reassure them itโ€™ll be okay.
What procedure would you follow if a patient that has entered the hospital has a broken forearm?:

First ask how they injured their forearm, then give them a physical exam, searching for bruises and cuts as well along with assuring there is still a pulse in the arm to know if there was a possibility a blood way was blocked. Order Imagery, to see the full severity of the breakage. Provide them with pain medication, if necessary after the imagery realign the bone manually aka reduction. Provide them with a cast or splint depending on the severity.

What procedure would you follow if a patient enters the hospital struggling to breathe?:

Immediately check the air ways, to insure there is not a obstruction in the airways. Then call for help, from anyone who may be able to help access the issue. Move them into a comfortable position that allows them to breath best, the immediately administrate their oxygen levels, assuring their whole body is getting the necessary oxygen it needs. Then i'd move to a detailed questioning, asking for their medical history or any possible medical conditions that could be interfering. Then order bloodtests and imagery to measure oxygen levels, and to see the Heart and Lungs structures. Then i'd provide necessary care, and continue monitoring them.

(PSYCHIATRY)
A patient is experiencing a panic attack before an important procedure. How would you assist the patient?

I'd stay calm, and speak softly to assure them that the panic attack is temporary and will go away. Assist with breathing techniques to help, them get the necessary air they need. I'd then be sympathetic, with them saying "I understand you're feeling anxious, and that's okay". Continuing to help with breathing excersises and assurance. Once the majority of the panic attack is over, offering a cool cloth for their for head and or neck may help soothe them, i'd be respectful of personal space. Along with removing any possible triggers from the environment to guarantee it wont happen again

A belligerent patient in the middle of a psychotic episode stumbles into the emergency room. What should you do?

I'd rush to call for assistance, immediately calling for a code: White. assure everyone keeps a safe distance away, then assign the patient to a secure, monitored area if possible, to minimize risk of hurting themselves or others. If the patient is armed, evacuate the area and involve law enforcement immediatly, if they arent armed assure that anything that may be dangerous is kept away. Then i'd move onto assessing the cause of it, attempt to verbally de-escalate the situation if the agitation is mild, designate one person to interact with the patient, as too many may be overwhelming. Assuring the person maintains a calm and empathetic approach and listen actively. Offer them choices of comfort, like a blanket a drink etc. If de-escalation was not successful, use physical restraints to assure they cant injure anyone. Give them calming medications to stabilize their mood. As soon as it is safe to do so give them an IV. After its all done continue monitoring, if their is any further medical evalutaion needed like any possible injuries i'd access it.

THE INTERVIEW
[Congratulations! Your character scored an interview, please answer the following all in ICLY fashion]

The Hospital Director takes a seat at their desk, clasping their hands together with a calm gaze as they greet the individual. Their desk is clean and pristine, aside from a half-filled tea cup that continues to steam, giving the room a lovely aroma.

Hyun-Jae Myungdae, would give a soft smile and curtesy bow as the director walked in

โ€œGood afternoon. I will be conducting your interview today. Could I have your full name as well as your age and date of birth, please?โ€

"Nice to meet you. My name is Hyun-Jae Myungdae, i am 29 and was born on May 14th 1996."

โ€œVery nice. Now, could you tell me a little more about yourself? Do you have a family, perhaps some motivations behind why youโ€™d like to work here?โ€

"I do have family, i have an older brother that runs a Antique shop in town. I actually just moved here, to be closer with family looking to transfer jobs from my old home up in Northern Japan."

โ€œWould you like us to refer to you by your surname or first name? As well as what honorifics youโ€™d like.โ€
(San, Chan, Kun, Shi, etc.)

"Myungdae, would be fine with me."

The director nods in affirmation, now understanding the type of person the individual was and readjusts their posture, taking a sip of that aromatic green tea before continuing to speak.
โ€œIt is nice meeting you, then. Now, Let us move on to some more important questions regarding your role.โ€

Gives a soft smile, and nods.

โ€œA patient arrives with a severe injury and is panicking uncontrollably. Walk me through how you would handle this situation.โ€

Hyung-Jae would sit visibly thinking for a moment.

"I would first call for help, as I'm making my way over calming the patient down before, trying to stop any and all bleeding before it gets to severe as im doing so I'd as what happened to better access the situation for the people who will take over. I'd help with transporting them into the necessary place before letting the more experienced doctors take over."

โ€œDuring an emergency, if any other hospital staff are unavailable however there is a patient in need, can we trust you to stabilize them or treat them to an acceptable degree?โ€

"I will, take over and try my hardest to do what is needed if all others are unavailable."

โ€œCould you run me through on the plethora of equipment you may find within your personal office if you are to be given the role of a resident? Just simply medical equipment.โ€

pondering for a moment, before letting out a deep breath.

"In my office, as I'm majored in psychiatry you may not find much medical equipment besides I will have a stethoscope and first-aid kit for when necessary."
