Creative Muses: Who inspires your work? (Favored artists, directors, designers, etc.)
A lot of the inspiration I gather for my work comes from the artists I saw that helped develop my love for graphic design. All of them helped shape my thinking in some sort of way, and they range from classic graphic designers to modern ones. My favorite graphic designer and the first work I genuinely connected with was by Alphonse Mucha. His eye for detail, framing, and colors inspired me to start creating graphic design in my free time. His work in particular helped teach me the emphasis of element placement and color. Yuko Higuchi inspired me to lead my designs with creativity. Both artists listed have an amazing way of conveying emotions and feelings with their work, which I admire greatly and has brought me to try to prioritize those aspects. The last artist I have to give kudos to is Mitsuo Katsui. Katsui has greatly pushed me to try to incorporate a wide variety of colors in both digital art and graphic design.
Do you have a watermark for your work?
I do have a watermark, but I’m not super strict about using it on pieces.
If so, what does it look like? (Text, symbol, signature, transition style, etc.)
When I do use my watermark, it’s usually just small text saying “bmei” in a light color or low opacity. I try to pick the font based on the design that I’m working on, and I often hide the watermark in the corner of my design or somewhere inside of it where it won’t get in the way.

What software do you use to design, draw, paint, or model?
I mainly use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for my graphic design. For digital art, I use Clip Studio Paint. All of my fonts are from Adobe Fonts, and the assets I use are usually sourced from the internet or I create them by hand. Sometimes I’ll go back and forth between programs for both types of art to get the right look.
What kind of content do you enjoy creating most?
(e.g. Character art, backgrounds, thumbnails, stylized UI, visual storytelling, etc.)
I enjoy creating visuals that are purposeful and appealing. My favorite things to work on are banners, icons, posters, stylized layouts, and anything that incorporates lore or a story. The majority of my work features typography as that is my favorite aspect of graphic design. When I create pieces, I try to lead with the informative aspects, and I choose themes and elements based on a bigger picture or emotion. Working with colors, shapes, fonts, and specific assets to portray a story is my speciality, which is why I love creating visuals for lore so much.
I also enjoy creating consistent visuals for a project for the purpose of branding. I have a strong belief that the more consistent, structured, and clear the designs of a project or company are, the more memorable and effective they tend to be.
How would you describe your artistic style?
I’d say my artistic style when it comes to graphic design is clean and visually structured. I try to create designs that are legible, eye-catching, and well-composed. Since most of my work includes text in some way, I try to use hierarchy, contrast, and layout techniques to properly convey the key message of the piece and lead the reader, then build from there depending on the tone of the project. My style is easily adaptable, and I’m able to make works from minimalist to maximalist depending on the request, however my priority is always ensuring my design is easy to digest for the viewer’s eye.
Where would you say your strengths lie as an artist/designer?
I’d say I’m good at layout, aesthetic choices, and clarity. I play close attention to spacing and alignment, and I will spend as much time as needed on a design until it feels and looks perfect. I’m heavily detail oriented and I strive to incorporate lore or an overall theme in every piece I create. I try to include detail in everything, even if it isn’t obvious to the audience immediately. Small design choices like that is what elevates the work I create.
Every element, color, font, and placement of those is intentional and staged to convey a certain mood, emotion, or message, even if it is through multiple visuals. I’m able to work efficiently and show consistency between pieces for projects that need more of a signature layout for their visuals. Since I’ve done digital art for over a decade, it has helped me develop an eye for shapes, colors, composition, and layouts. My experience and love for art as a concept brings me to apply techniques to both mediums. Rhythm and form are two of my favorite things to incorporate into my work when I’m given the opportunity.
I’d also say I’m quite creative and able to apply that to a variety of concepts. I want to turn the community's ideas into something greater. In my opinion, the best way to receive and comprehend information and the intent behind it is through all of the foundations of graphic design, especially when it is memorable, creative, or even useful to the viewer.
Do you have any experience doing graphic design for servers, content creators, or collaborative projects?
I don’t have experience doing professional work for any projects. However, I am experienced with how the process of request-based work flows due to my time doing art commissions. I’ve made tons of personal visuals and graphics for my friends before for a variety of reasons, mainly themed assets/banners for Discord servers.
How can I best support you so you can excel in your role?
There’s a few ways that you are able to support me so I can excel and work efficiently as a graphic designer. I appreciate clear communication and honest feedback as most do. If something needs to be changed, I’m perfectly happy adjusting it until it feels right.
I’m pretty good at getting graphic design done within a reasonable deadline, however there are times where I prefer to spend a little longer to perfect each element. I’m able to catch my mistakes very early on in my pieces which leads to me spending a lot of time revising works.
How do you prefer to receive feedback or revision requests?
Direct feedback or constructive criticism is preferred! Like I said in the last response, if something feels off and you quite can’t place it, let me know and I’m happy to adjust it!
Do you work better on multiple projects at once, or one at a time?
I’m able to work on multiple projects at a time, as I can finish most pieces in under a day or two.
Do you have any availability limitations we should be aware of?
I don’t work consistent hours, but when it’s busy at my job, I sometimes work the entire week. I’m able to properly manage time for my creative endeavors without risking my motivation or health, especially since I (usually) always have the weekends off!
