What’s your Discord Tag?:

Do you have any alternative accounts?:
appkinay, previously johnnycageluvr64
Do you have a functioning microphone?:
Yes I do!
How old are you?:
21
Have you worked in teams like this before?:
I have not worked in a team regulating and looking over applications. Although the lore and social community teams has always both looked and felt interesting through the ways in videos shorts and the way the community has legends and lore written up. I’d like to see how people have ways of writing and working these functions into a server with plug-ins and roleplaying as through the Spirit Faction.
Do you have any previous experience?:
As stated in the question above, no. But it’d be fun to add to my résumé.
Why are you interested in joining the Spirit Team?:
The reason why I am interested in the spirit team is that the new announcement of occultism and the ways of defending and summoning in a roleplay scenario opened my eyes to the spirit team the more I read. I am not someone who writes lore on the spot. That is my weak point, however I do like reading lore just to see how it would function in the server. Of course, you can’t just domain expansion your way out of a scenario you do not want to be involved in. It should be handled with logic behind the rules and functionality in the server.
How did you learn about the server?:
I learned about this server from a friend, and I have previously applied for beta-tester. I have since been put on pending for that role as slots were filled and waited for more spots to roll in and anything else that caught my eye. Which it did!
How do you interpret the role of the Spirit Team, and what are its responsibilities within the server?:
Ahem, members of the Spirit Team are expected and held to carry out reviewing and processing of Spirit, Vessel, and Occultist applications. Applications meeting server standards. Refining future lore projects even when the writers are already amazing, offering balance and consistency within the server. Being present for spirit-related mechanics, making sure that abilities plus limitations have fair use and proper execution. Spirit-Team tickets are to be managed within this role to allow Spirits, Vessels, and Occultists their own creation of objects both Divine and Cursed, as quality control over this spirit content server-wide.
In your own words, explain how spirits, vessels, and occultists differ mechanically and narratively.
Spirits:
Spirits are various souls stuck in time. They are split into tiers to make sure that people who would like to explore the spirit faction remain balanced and without power-gaming.
The tiers and the people allowed to apply to each tier are listed below as with each tier we go from benevolent, neutral, and finally malevolent.
Lesser Spirits: All players with a valid IC death certificate.
- Haunts are limited to minor interactions. Disembodied whispers, minor temperature manipulation, brief altering shadows.
Greater Spirits: Players with the “Trusted Player” role.
- Can be in the physical world, but publicity is limited. Haunts can lead to non-life-threatening injuries. But they can kill with player consent, the discretion is advised as acting out will result in role removal.
Elder Spirits: Reserved for Lore and Admin+
- Haunts can be in the physical world, can kill without player consent but it is advised to not do so. These spirits are more reclusive to the public, not showing abilities or making displays of power unless in the case of a greater event.
Kami: Reserved for Admin+
- May do as please, as no restriction but other Kami overthrowing them if acting out of turn.
Vessels:
Vessels are mortals who have been given superhuman abilities and powers of the dead. Through willing pacts, trickery, or forceful implantation, spirits hold power to shape their souls, chipping pieces away from the living. This formation brings us Spirit Vessels. After successful creation the Vessel can draw upon foreign spiritual energy to aide them. A spiritual conduit where spirits can exert influence the world physically by manifesting fully.
Now onto mechanics!
- Vessels can only be connected to [1] spirit.
Lesser Spirits:
Too weak for utilizing vessels.
Greater Spirits:
Max [2] Vessels. Granting them each [1] combative ability along with [2] non-combative effects.
Elder Spirits:
Max [4] vessels, granting [2] combative abilities and [3] non-combative abilities.
Kami:
There is no limit for how many vessels a Kami may have or abilities. Though they come with tiers of abilities, granting more power for greater costs.
Becoming vessels are both rare and are a hefty gamble as Yokai are known liars, abusers, and manipulate to consume souls entirely.
The tiers of vessels are:
Remnant Vessel:
Glimpses of spirit realm. Often utilizing a small fraction of the spirit’s power.
True Vessel:
Gaining more of their spirits power, costing them sanity and numerous other mental effects from interaction with the dead.
Perfect Vessel:
Spirit powers can flow freely, clearly, and without distortion or instability. It feels as though the soul was always meant to be there.
Exalted Vessel:
Extremely rare; the mortal is subjected to the patron’s image and reforged into it. Most of the soul is now the spirit’s. Twisted into the concept of the Yokai.
i.e. The Shōchōka, or Jinkakuka
Occultists:
Ancient methods of Occultism are traced back to the earliest practices of Shintoism. Where it is believed, unseen forces manifest within all things. Mountains, rivers, objects, words, carry spiritual weight in the world. Those attuned to the energy learn to interpret, influence, and manipulate to guard themselves. As these practices and traditions evolved, merging with ideologies such as Buddhism and cosmological practices of Onmyōdō, which invented a structured approach to invocation and warding.
The art of occultism is split into five portions. The creation of resonant tools for being used in ritualistic purposes, each inscription, warding, invoking, and cursing.
- These skills must be taught to an aspiring occultist by one who holds a valid mastered application.
- Once they too know every method of occultism, the may submit an additional application to gain Occultism Mastery.
- This is discovered ICLY.
What is the purpose of resonant tools, and why must they be reviewed or signed by the Spirit Team?:
Resonant tools offer protection varying on what resonant tool is being used.
- Ofuda:
Placed within a fixed location to establish the inscriptions effects.
- Omamori:
A sealed portable charm held within a silk bag containing a sacred prayer. It may be carried by an individual for its inscription effect.
- Straw Effigy:
Woven from dried straw and affixed with an ofuda nailed to the figures face. They utilize the inscription and yet expand the effect to covering a wide area around it. They require physical anchors. (i.e. blood, hair, bone fragments tied or woven into the effigy core.)
The purpose of the review and signage by the Spirit Team is to make sure the resonant tool was roleplayed and emoted correctly in the scenario. The relevant information is regarding it. Creation via roleplay of the tool alongside the APPROVED Occultist application must be present.
You are reviewing a Spirit’s application to have Vessels, it is well-written, but slightly exceeds mechanical limits. How do you respond?:
After reviewing the Vessel application, I give out where the mechanical limits are exceeded, encouraging the applicant to re-read Vessels and their roleplay purposes and to reapply when they find a solution and/or don’t take it too far. Linking the Vessel lore in the response.
How would you handle an application that follows mechanics perfectly but is weak in lore or creativity?:
Taking time to make sure mechanics are met takes a lot, and it’s understandable. But in this case, I would link Lore to that was approved on the server regarding the vessel type and what it offers. Linking it directly in response to the applicant.
How do you ensure fairness when reviewing applications from friends or familiar players?:
Fairness is something I hold high regardless of person. Ensuring the mechanics and the lore behind the application. Answering questions regardless of player if they are interested and making sure to give pointers to people interested in the Spirit-Team related applications. Even if it’s a small detail.
Do you understand that if you are caught acting biased, or making unfair judgement calls, you can and will be removed?:
