Character Motive Applications
Information
Character Motive is defined in our rulebook as the right to attack another character after providing a reasonable cause for your characterโs actions. While we strongly encourage collaboration and consent when it comes to physical confrontations, we also recognize that this may not always be possible. For this reason, we have created a system in which staff must manually approve any character interaction that involves conflict without the consent of both parties.
These applications are intended solely for premeditated combat motive and must not be used during an active fight. In situations where conflict arises spontaneously, please refer instead to the concept of Spark Motive as outlined in our server rulebook.
When applying to have give your character the right to attack another, please keep the following in mind to make sure roleplay quality is assured and to prevent any further out-of-character conflicts:

When applying to have give your character the right to attack another, please keep the following in mind to make sure roleplay quality is assured and to prevent any further out-of-character conflicts:
- Whenever possible, try to reach a mutual agreement with the other party to ensure roleplay remains enjoyable for everyone involved.
- If consent cannot be reached, remember to remain respectful (even if your application is approved by staff). Should any issues arise, contact staff directly instead of engaging in out-of-character arguments with your target.
- As part of your application, you will be asked to specify the extent of your characterโs planned attack. In other words, we're asking how much damage you intend to cause to your target. The extent should be proportionate to the original cause. For example, if your character was slapped in the face, requesting to stab the other character with a knife would be considered unreasonable.
- If your application is approved, you will be able to access all relevant details (deadlines, extent, character information, etc.) via the /combat-auth command in-game. You are expected to follow these guidelines precisely and avoid exceeding any of the approved conditions.
- Although your application is only visible to you and staff, you are required to share your /combat-auth log with your target if they request it at any point during the execution of your plan.

Acknowledgements
By applying, you commit to complying with our rulebook by following these acknowledgements:
- I acknowledge that my application can take up to three days to be reviewed, after which I can notify staff to receive updates on the status of my application via private tickets.
- I will not engage in my planned attack before getting a clear "Accepted" response from staff.
- If this application gets denied, I will not engage in any rule-breaking activitiesto circumvent said response. This includes:
- Intentionally trying to lure characters into engaging in a physical confrontation.
- Trying to fake a staff response to bypass the result of my application.
- Reaching out to staff through DMs to appeal this decision. If I have an issue with the provided response, I will open a ticket to discuss it.
- I will not exceed the extent or deadline provided in the response of this application. I acknowledge that staff may reduce the original extent I provided in my application for the sake of fairness.
- I will use the dedicated /combat-auth command to prove the existence of existing authorization if requested by the target character.
- I will not use a different character or alternative accounts to carry out this planned attack.
- My allies will not be able to assist me unless their involvement is explicitly confirmed in my application's response. Other non-faction parties may only be involved if they are contacted during the confrontation.
- If other allied parties are involved legitimately, they will only be able to assist me through numbers, but they won't be able to act on the full extent specified in my response. This restriction does not apply to specifically approved parties.
- After acting on the full extent of my authorization, I (as well as any allied parties) will no longer have valid motive to re-engage in this plan.
- I will not try to loophole or bypass any restrictions. If I find such a loophole, I will inform staff so they can properly address it in the rulebook.
