ROLE-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS & MEDICAL TRIVIA
[This section is dedicated to testing your knowledge on the medical field.]
What role would you prefer and why?:
I am interested in the Physician role, specifically veterinarian later on. I prefer this role specifically because I am inexperienced with medical roleplay and it seems like the best fit for starting out. I am also interested in being a veterinarian because I would love to unique role later in roleplay, and also helping animals would be fun.
Do you have any prior experience with MedicalRP?:
I do not.
Are you aware that with MedicalRP comes the possibility of encountering possibly triggering topics?:
Yes
How well can you coordinate with a team during Roleplay?:
I consider myself good at working with a team. I can listen well and also add my own unique outlooks on certain situations. I am respectful to those with a higherup role then myself, and I am good at taking charge if need be.
MEDICAL TRIVIA
(PHYSIOLOGY)
If someone is experiencing a reaction to food poisoning, what is the correct way to manage and treat the symptoms?:
Depending on how severe the food poisoning is, I would give them nausea medication such as Dramamine, and give them something to help their stomach such as Pepto-Bismol or Loperamide. Last but not least, keep the patient hydrated with water, if they can't keep water down then an IV drip.
What procedure would you follow if you witness a patient experiencing a seizure?:
If they are standing, catch them and gently lower them to the ground. Clear the area, remove anything around the neck, take of eyewear or anything on the face, then time the seizure, keep them stable while they are seizing and find something soft to go under their head like a pillow or jacket. If it stops after 5 minutes, turn them to their left side and point their mouth down so the airways stay clear and take the patients vitals, make sure to keep monitoring them. If the seizure doesn't stop after 5 minutes, call for extra help because they might have permanent brain damage.
What procedure would you follow if a patient that has entered the hospital has a broken forearm?:
Examine the arm for swelling, deformity, or an open wound. Bring them into a room and X-Ray the arm. Depending on the severity there are multiple treatments, less intense fractures or breaks can do with just a cast, while more intense breaks might need surgery. Prescribe an opioid-based pain reliever, or another medication based on the patients allergens.
What procedure would you follow if a patient enters the hospital struggling to breathe?:
If someone is struggling to breathe, get them an air mask, assess why the patient is struggling to breathe in the first place. It is best to check if the patient is distressed and might be having a panic attack, then check the lungs and check for wheezing and other symptoms. If the issue persists, an X-Ray might be best to find the problem.
(PSYCHIATRY)
A patient is experiencing a panic attack before an important procedure. How would you assist the patient?
I would reassure the patient and depending on the severity of the panic attack, get them a breathing aid. I would monitor them and help them stabilize or become calm before beginning the procedure. If the procedure cannot wait, try to calm the patient down as quickly as possible before giving them anesthesia, assuming the procedure is a physical one.
A belligerent patient in the middle of a psychotic episode stumbles into the emergency room. What should you do?
Depending on is this patient is a threat or not I would treat the situation differently. If the patient is not a threat, try to sympathize with them and calm them down, asking them if they need medical assistance, avoiding escalating the situation any further. If the patient is a threat, clear the area and try to talk them down, sympathizing and keeping calm, restraining the patient, if need be, trying not to get them to escalate further.

THE INTERVIEW
[Congratulations! Your character scored an interview, please answer the following all in ICLY fashion]
The Hospital Director takes a seat at their desk, clasping their hands together with a calm gaze as they greet the individual. Their desk is clean and pristine, aside from a half-filled tea cup that continues to steam, giving the room a lovely aroma.
Jurou takes a seat on the other side of the desk, his posture fixed and his hands folded neatly in his lap. He smiles and nods as he greets the Director politely.
โGood afternoon. I will be conducting your interview today. Could I have your full name as well as your age and date of birth, please?โ
"Good afternoon, my name is Jurou Yokoyama. I was born in 2000 on March 29th."
โVery nice. Now, could you tell me a little more about yourself? Do you have a family, perhaps some motivations behind why youโd like to work here?โ
"Well, I grew up in Japan, specifically Kyoto, so I have Family down there. My mother still lives there along with my little sister. I moved here for better opportunities and new faces. I am especially interested to work here because of the training program and unique studies found here. I also want to help the people and the environment of this town as best as I can."
โWould you like us to refer to you by your surname or first name? As well as what honorifics youโd like.โ
(San, Chan, Kun, Shi, etc.)
"Surname or first name are both fine, I don't have a preference. Kun or Sama will do, nothing too intense." He gave a nervous chuckle, his eyes wondering for a moment before returning back to the Director.
The director nods in affirmation, now understanding the type of person the individual was and readjusts their posture, taking a sip of that aromatic green tea before continuing to speak.
โIt is nice meeting you, then. Now, Let us move on to some more important questions regarding your role.โ
He gave a subtle nod, readjusting his hands. "Right then."
โA patient arrives with a severe injury and is panicking uncontrollably. Walk me through how you would handle this situation.โ
"Well I would assess the injury and what is needed to be done to help treat it or get it under control, while also trying to calm the patient, telling them it will be okay and reassuring them. I would have them take deep breaths with me and try to keep their eyes off their wound." He pauses, waiting for the next question as he tries to analyze the Directors face.
โDuring an emergency, if any other hospital staff are unavailable however there is a patient in need, can we trust you to stabilize them or treat them to an acceptable degree?โ
"Yes, I will do my absolute best to get them and keep them stable, and treat them. I will monitor the patient closely until someone is available and able to take over. I will of course update them on the situation before I leave."
โCould you run me through on the plethora of equipment you may find within your personal office if you are to be given the role of a resident? Just simply medical equipment.โ
He would look up, thinking to himself and holding out his hand to count on his fingers. "Well, I would assume a stethoscope, bandages, gauze, cotton balls, a medical grade soap, otoscope, blood work kit, some sort of injection tool, needles, EpiPen, etcetera." He nodded, looking back to the director.
