1. Geological Consideration
Norowarejima, the fictional island of Yurei-Jima, is written to be established along the northeast coast of modern-day Japan, meaning all players will have to take this into consideration when creating their character and interacting with others and the world.
- 1.1. Adaptability. If your character does not fit this environment, ensure they are adapted to suit our roleplay standards by erasing such features from this version of your character.
- 1.1a. Porting Lore. Integrating external lore is allowed if it reasonably aligns with the server's canon.
While on our network, you must take into consideration that scenarios you write are required to be suitable for an audience aged 16 and up.
- 2.1. Romance. Roleplay involving romantic engagements between two characters should be kept appropriate and safe for every player on the server, regardless of how private the environment seems.
This kind of roleplay is also heavily discouraged for players under the age of 18, as it can lead to minor safety concerns.
- 2.1a. Consent Clause. All romantic actions must be consensual between players and characters. Consent can be revoked at any time, regardless of previous enthusiasm.
- 2.1b. Age Clause. Adult players may NOT under any circumstance engage in romantic roleplay scenarios with players who are minors.
- 2.2a. Abuse. May be mentioned in passing through established character lore, but may not be roleplayed out, nor can it be a defining character trait.
- 2.2b. Gore. Acceptable in moderation with proper disclaimer beforehand.
- Players may have to yield depending on boundaries of the majority.
- Cannibalism adheres to the same rules.
- 2.2c. Self-Harm & Suicide. Permitted under the impression that the character may have sufficient reasoning to carry out an act as such..
- 2.2d. Substances. While substance use is permitted, your character will have to find substances available in-game.
- Various drug paraphernalia is not permitted; such as, but not limited to, syringes, glass pipes, cooking spoons, cut straws, etc.
When playing Yurei-Jima, please remember to keep your roleplay quality as consistent as possible. While prankster characters are more than welcome, please do so within the boundaries of quality roleplay.
Engaging in NSFW Roleplay is strictly forbidden.
- 3.1. Emoticons. You may not refer to emoticons, emojis, kaomojis or adjacent characters outside of literature, phones, or other written media.
- 3.2. Voiding. All roleplay actions sent are canon, and thus cannot be voided without staff approval. Such is usually the case, after a staff verdict during a roleplay encounter has been made.
- 3.3. Erotic References. Any references or mentions toward erotic behaviours or activities are not permitted. This includes erotic literature, inappropriate performances, clubs, etc.
- 3.4. Banned Content. Any mention of sensitive topics such as pedophilia, bestiality, necrophilia, sexual assault or harassment, child abuse is strictly forbidden.
- 3.4a. Toilet Humor. This rule also extends to roleplaying vulgar bodily functions.
Combative Roleplay must follow all rules and guidelines to ensure situations run as smoothly as possible. Should problems arise during combat, you may request help from a staff member, however, it is best to cooperate with your peers to ensure smooth interactions.
- 4.1. Metaplay. Utilizing out of character channels to relay in roleplay information, and vice versa, is against the rules.
- 4.2. Pain Thresholds. Characters must respond realistically to pain/discomfort depending on the inflicted injury and weapon used (if any).
- 4.3. Hammerspace.Keep in mind, your characterโs pockets are not infinite. Certain actions will require you to have a corresponding item within your inventory to carry out.
- 4.3a. Recording. Only items realistically capable of recording photos and audio are permitted to do so. This includes cell phones, flip phones, video cameras, CCTV footage, etc. Hidden recording devices are not permitted in any instance.
Characters should keep in mind a reasonable respect for authoritative figures, and fear of incoming threats. This should be held in consideration, as different roleplay interactions will vary heavily.
- 5.1. Fear for Future. A character should hold authoritative figures with a general regard of respect, for undercircumstance, they could heavily alter their future. This includes, but is not limited to, teachers during school hours, on-duty emergency services, shrine staff, etc.
- 5.1a. Defiance. This can be bypassed with reasonable cause to contradict the law, or general lack of enthusiasm for oneโs future if carried out realistically.
- 5.2. Fear for Wellbeing. This refers to situations in which a character, or loved oneโs lives are in danger. Characters should react realistically to incoming threats should they have methods to cause reasonable bodily harm. This includes, but is not limited to deadly weapons, spirits, wild animals, mind-warping effects, body-horror, forces of nature, eldritch incursions, etc.
- 5.2a. Courage. Characters may attempt to circumvent methods of fear, should they have realistic means to combat them, though must be aware of the threat they approach.
In roleplay, there may be interactions which players can flash forward, to skip the roleplay required to play out the scene. This includes, but is not limited to medical roleplay, torture, intimate encounters. However, some things may not be flash forwarded, such as bleeding out, detention, or jail sentences.
- 6.1. Torture. For hostile encounters where torture is required, and the victim or assailant wishes to skip through the process of harming another, an agreement should be made of what injuries were inflicted, and what information was gained prior to flashing forward.
- 6.2. Intimacy. For intimate encounters, please stick to a strict Closed-Door policy. You may have a story that builds romantic or emotional tension, yet cuts away before any explicit physical acts are carried out. Utilize common sense.
7. Relationships in Roleplay
All adult characters are able to form committed and consensual relationships, and adhere to guidelines set if a family is being made.
- 7.1. Consent. All players must get consent prior to flirting, or pursuing another character with romantic interests.
- Reciprocation. Characters are not required to reciprocate feelings if consent has been established.
- 7.2 Detachment. All in-character relationships are not a reflection of playersโ personal relationship with one another and should not be treated as such.
- If you feel boundaries have been crossed at any point, you should take steps to ensure your safety.
- 7.3. Age Gaps. In-character age gaps must be respected on top of the already-listed age limits to having relationships:
- Characters under the age of 18 may not engage in romantic roleplay.
- Characters between the ages of 18-25, may only pursue others within that age bracket.
- Characters over the age of 25, may freely pursue anyone above 25.
Characters under the age of 18 can and will be considered children by the general population, law enforcement, and emergency services.
If you are playing a character who's under the age of 18, you must keep certain restrictions in mind when interacting with other players.
- 8.1. Romance. Underage characters may not engage in romantic scenarios.
- 8.2. Children. Underage characters may not have children in any capacity.
- 8.3. Crime. Characters under 16 may not knowingly engage in illegal activities.
- 8.3a. Delinquency. Underage characters may however engage in delinquency, or harmless pranks.
- 8.4. Premature Death. Characters under the age of 18 can only die due to medical conditions, supernatural events, or natural disasters.
- 8.5. Will to Live. Underaged characters should have a much stronger desire for Pursuit of Life, and cannot powergame natural fears for their future, or life.
